India win maiden ODI series in Newzealand

The return of Daniel Vettori made no difference to the Newzland side as they lost the 4th ODI at Hamilton against India.Later today India missed the services of Sachin but despite that India won the match comprehensively largely because of the record-breaking century from Sehwag who scored the century in just 60 balls.

Daniel Vettori won the toss in this must win match and elected to bat.Newzland were off to a good start as Jesse Ryder and McCullum shared a 100-run partnership. But the good work of the openers was not well complemented by the middle order yet again as Newzland lost some quick wickets. But a late on-slaught by the Newzland stand-in wicketkeeper who scored a brisk 54 helped Newzland post 270 which was later revised to 281 as per the Duckwoth-Lewis(D/L) method.Hence India were set a target of 282 from 47 overs.

But this daunting 282 score was made to look small as Sehwag blasted off to the fastest century by an Indian in just 60 balls.Gambhir also scored a half-century and ably supported Sehwag as they shared an unbeaten 200 run partnership in just 22 overs. There were several rain interruptions during India's batting response but when rain came down during the 23rd over,India was declared winner as per the D/L method.

With this win,India sealed the series with the score as 3-0 with one match to be played yet. This is the first time in 41 years that India has won a ODI series in Newzland.Surely Dhoni & Co are on a dream run.Sehwag was declared as the Man of the Match for his superb knock of 125.
